She moved to White Swan when she went to work at Sundown M Ranch in 1984 and worked there until her retirement in 2003. In 2008 Joanne was presented with the first ever Life Time Achievement Award for Support Staff from the Central Washington Chemical Dependency Treatment Providers Alliance, an award that is now named after her and is presented annually.Joanne will always be remembered for her thoughtful and kind words to everyone she came in contact with, be it family, friends, co-workers or patients at Sundown. Joanne enjoyed working with her hands and making things for friends and family. She knitted, sewed and did needle point. Many of her friends and family still have a sweater, a blanket, a wall hanging or some article of clothing that she created especially for them.
