JoAnne SlagerDecember 25, 2016Jo Anne "Jodi" Slager, 91, died on Christmas Day, 2016 in Ft. Myers, Florida.Jo Anne Mae Gray was born on July 11, 1925 to James and Nellie Gray in Columbus, Ohio. She graduated from Bradenton High School in Bradenton, Florida and later from the School of Nursing associated with White Cross Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. She was later licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in Ohio and New York. Jodi married Fred Slager on June 6, 1948. They moved to Elgin, Illinois where they raised their family and lived for 30 years. During her time in Elgin, Jodi volunteered for various organizations, including Junior Service League and Judson University, and was involved in many social events. In retirement, she enjoyed long trips visiting family, as well as entertaining, boating, and traveling.She has been reunited with her husband of 68 years, Fred Slager of Florida, who passed away on September 29, 2016. She leaves behind her children Diane Slager of California, Fred Slager of Elgin, Deb (Bill) Allen of Colorado, Sandy (Alan) Tiano of Arizona, and Gary (Mary) Slager of Elgin; 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
