DeHut, JodyMr. Jody Lee DeHut, 63, Oconto, went to be with the Lord on November 10, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer. Jody was born on October 23, 1954, in Oconto to the late Donald and Jean (Mayo) DeHut and was the oldest of six children. He graduated from Lena High School and remained living on the DeHut homestead in Oconto, from birth throughout his adult life. Jody greatly enjoyed the outdoors. Both his work and home life allowed him to be outdoors most of the time. Hunting and fishing was a passion and 'way of life' for Jody. He loved traversing the woodlands searching for deer antler sheds. He was known by many as "Chief Jody Lee" and was a light-hearted soul, sharing many laughs and stories with close friends and family. Jody always enjoyed farming and continued to do so with his brothers and nephew on the home farm. He also had a gift for gardening and growing nutritious vegetables, which he generously shared with others. Jody also learned to play the accordion at a young age and music was often a form of entertainment during cold winters on the farm. Most of all, Jody loved animals. He belonged to Future Farmers of America in his youth and went on to raise many types of farm animals and critters through his life. In later life, those most beloved to him were known as his "kittys" Jody is survived by a son, Donald DeHut, Oconto; a daughter, Lyla (Trevor) Murrie, IL; three sisters, Cindy (Mike) Bittner, Oconto; Lisa (Alan) Ihlenfeldt, Two Rivers; Jenny (Ken) Knipfer, Elk Mound; two brothers, Jayme (Barb) DeHut, Oconto; Tim (Cynde) DeHut, Oconto; four grandchildren, Mason, Joshua, Christian and Zachary; and many nieces and nephews.The family will receive relatives and friends at the Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto, from 12 Noon to 2 PM Tuesday, November 14, 2017. Funeral services will be conducted 2 PM Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Peter Dorn officiating. Burial will be at the Oconto Catholic Cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed at
