Joe A. Rodriguez, 'Junior', 59, passed away on May 20, 2017 surrounded by his family. He was born on January 2, 1958 in Las Cruces, NM and is preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Justina Rodriguez. He is survived by his beloved wife, Teresa Rodriguez and their 3 children, Deandra and her fiance Marcos Ramirez, Evarista 'Evie', and Jose 'Pepe' all whom he adored and loved dearly; his 2 beautiful grandchildren, Aden and Elianna who were his world; his siblings and their spouses, Tomas & Bea Rodriquez, Gloria & Mando Rodriguez, Elena & Calvin Bagley, Grace & Terri Barnes, Alfredo & Minerva Rodriguez, Ana & Chuck Webster, Cindy & Chris Coats, and Robert and Becky Rodriguez; as well as many close friends and additional relatives whom he also adored. He was a member of the U.S. Navy from 1978-1981 and was deployed overseas twice. He retired with 35 years of Federal civilian service contributed to the Department of Defense which included the mission fulfillment of the 96th Test Group. He was a hero in many more ways than one. His words of wisdom over the years could write a novel that would be worth millions. His humbleness was to the core and his generosity endless. His strength was limitless. He was the best cook. He LOVED being in the mountains. He developed a love for fast pitch softball and played for many years; claimed Regional Champions title and even made it to Nationals in Dallas, TX with his team-who became a second family to him. Family was everything to him. He was a hardworking man. He put 110% into everything he did. He was loved by so many and will be greatly missed. The memories he left behind will forever be cherished and his legacy will live on forever through the hearts of his loved ones. Pallbearers will be Jose Rodriguez, Tomas Rodriquez, Alfredo Rodriguez, Robert Rodriguez, Eddie Ray Telles, Michael Sanchez, and Sam Sanchez. Honorary pallbearers will be Marcos Ramirez, Tommy 'Pumpkin' Rodriquez, and Orlando Rodriquez.A Rosary and Funeral Mass will be held Monday, June 5th at 10 a.m. in Las Cruces, NM at St. Genevieve's Catholic Church (100 S. Espina St. 88001) and burial to follow at Masonic Cemetery (760 S. Compress Rd. 88005). After services there will be a reception held at the Elk's Lodge (3000 Elks Dr. 88005).*Arrangements have been entrusted by Baca's Funeral Chapels of Las Cruces, NM.
