Joe Adams, Jr. 1934 ~ 2016 The Woodlands, TX Joe Dee Adams, Jr., age 82, passed away on November 21, 2016 in The Woodlands, TX, surrounded by his family, after a short battle with brain cancer. He was born on October 12, 1934 in Birmingham, Alabama to Joe Dee Adams, Sr. and Alice Blanche Adkins. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and step-father, John W. Gaw. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marilyn Rester Adams; sons, David (and wife Laura) of St. Louis, MO and Mike of Wilmington, NC; grandchildren, Kayla Miller of Colorado Springs, CO, and Kevin Adams of Houston, TX; and great-grandchildren, Gabriel Miller and Jonathan Miller of Colorado Springs, CO. He is also survived by his half-brother, Jon Jay Gaw of LaQuinta, CA. Joe was a graduate of Gulfport High, Class of '54 and of Mississippi State University in 1965. He was a Second Lieutenant in the Mississippi National Guard. After 25 years with IBM, programming main frame computers for the NASA Space Station and Space Shuttle projects, he retired and went to work for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice in Huntsville, TX. After retirement from there he moved to the The Woodlands, TX. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport.
