A friendly Christian life came to an end on the late morning of Tuesday, February 18, 2020, when an Angel came to Merit Health Hospital, Nachez, MS and plucked a flower from God's Garden, Sister Joe Helen Watson-Lee.
Sister Joe Helen Watson-Lee was born in Tensas Parish Highland to the late Wally Watson and Rilla Atkins-Watson on January 5, 1939.
She confessed a belief in Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized at an early age. She united with the Rufus Baptist Church, Ferriday, LA where she served as a member until her health started to fail.
She was united in wedlock to the late John Henry Lee on April 11, 1971.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, late husband, one son Ezra "Bug" Davis, Jr, two grandsons Freddie "June" Lewis Watson, David Watson, seven sisters: Viola "Jeannette"Scales, Geneva Snyder, George Anna Dixon, Olivia Edwards, Agnes "Mattie" Watson, Marilyn Murray and Carolyn Atkins; three brothers: Clemon Watson, Wally Watson, Jr. and Allen "Booman" Watson.
Sister Joe Helen Watson-Lee leaves to cherish her memories: One daughter, Lula Mae Watson-Simmons (Bennie, Sr.) of Ferriday, LA; 4 grandsons, Bennie Simmons, Jr. (Brigette), Billy Simmons (Kenya) of Ferriday, LA, Michael Simmons of Monroe, LA and Ezra Lee of Sacramento, CA; 4 grandaughters, Maria Simmons (Brandon) of Ferriday, LA, Brenda Simmons and Michelle Jenkins of Metarie, LA and Katie Bingham of Danville, IL; three sister-in-laws, Clara Lee of Ferriday, LA, Elizabeth Carter and Mildred Robinson of Sacramento, CA; a special niece/godchild Latoya Scales; 11 great grandchildren, 13 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
