I met Joel threw gaming on Ultima and in person once he drove all the way to Pittsburgh. He made an impact on so many people. He had all the virtues of a knight especially humility. I'll never forget the adventures we had and your infectious laugh. I will miss your stories and cooking recipes. My condolences to the family. - Joshua Garlick

Joel, you are one of my best friends and I will never forget all the great times we had. It was wonderful meeting you and your wife on your tour around the US trip. You were the same person I knew and loved in Ultima. I spent these past few days going through all of our discord conversations and re-watching some of our stuff on YouTube, you were always truly there for your friends and every person you interacted with ended up having much respect and love for you. This earth and Britannia will not be the same without you. You are on a new journey now and one day we will meet again and relive our glory days. Until then my friend, with much love, fare thee well. ~Grofus

I'll miss you Joel (Festus).
My granddaughter loved talking to you in Discord, and always wanted to say hi to "Papa Festus".
It was wonderful meeting you and your family for dinner in Frankenmuth, and also on your retirement road trip in Indiana. I wish I had more pictures, but the memories will last forever.
Jason.
