JoElsie Campbell Zwick Obituary

Oct 31, 1932 - Jan 19, 2016

This obituary is administered by:
JoElsie (Jody) Campbell Zwick was born on October 31, 1932, in the Emander area of Everett, Snohomish County, Washington. She passed away on November 19, 2016, at Josephine Sunset Home in Stanwood, Washington. She was 84. Jody attended school in various locations including Vanport, Oregon and Everett. She was a proud member of the Everett High School Class of 1952. She retired from GTE where she made many friends, including Rodney Melle. Jody and Rodney remained close even after her move to Josephine. Jody was the youngest of children born to Roy Ronald Campbell and Panzy Marie Harper Campbell. She was preceded in death by her parents, her older sister, Jacquelynne Harper Campbell Fisher, two infant siblings, Data Rea Campbell and Freddie Mac Campbell, her niece, Jerrolynne Jene Wood Schwab and her nephew, Jerry D. Wood. Her niece, Sharyl Fisher (Ted) Smith lives in the area. Jody is survived by her younger sister and brother-in-law, Virginia (Ginny) and John Bond and their children, Jessica (Mike) Kennedy, Michael (Ivy) Bond and Bridget Bond. She enjoyed being the great aunt to Ginny and John's grandchildren, Jake, Johnny, Carter, Jade and Spencer. Ginny's brother, Burrell Brown Jr, also welcomed Jody as a sister. Jody married Bobby Lee Jones on December 22, 1951, Richard Terwilliger on May 16, 1970, and Ferdinand Zwick on February 12, 1982. All three preceded her in death. She was engaged to Frank "Buzz" Hudson, but he passed away before the wedding. She leaves many friends, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was close to niece, Jerrolynne Jene and Tony Schwab's children: Anthony Schwab, Jacquelynne Engle, Charles Schwab, and Jerrolynne Jene Schwab. She has many cousins on her Campbell side, including Georgia Lynn and Tom Bradshaw, Bonnie Haugen, Laurie Ann Bourke, David Campbell, Sherry and Bob Cox, Rick and Cindy Campbell and their families. She also leaves a cousin Lloyd Hooper and his family. Lloyd's mother, Vashti and JoElsie's mother were sisters. Jody was interested in her family history and through DNA testing had traced her mother's maternal side back to John and Elizabeth Sharp Ralston who were both born in 1776. Since Jody was born on Halloween, people assumed she collected all things Halloween-related and often brought decorations, ceramics, pillows, blankets and full-size stuffed witches as gifts. Her home was a showplace for these items which overflowed into her yard. She was known as the "Halloween Lady" in her Maltby neighborhood. She enjoyed camping, gardening, collecting rocks, garage sales, chocolate, cars, dogs, playing the piano, and cooking. Jody had many cherished pets over the years that became her "kids" and were completely spoiled. Thank you to Dr. Michael Ericson and his wife, Karen of Companion Vet Clinic for the extra special care they gave to Jody's dogs and to Jody. Thank you also to Scott Koch of Fire District 7 for being instrumental in Jody's care following her declining health. Scott's extra time and caring made it possible for her to accept leaving her home and moving to a care facility. His visits to her at Josephine were above and beyond. She loved seeing Scott. The family wishes to thank the entire staff at Josephine Sunset for their kindness, patience, expert professional care, and ability to appreciate Jody's unique personality and sense of humor. We will forever be grateful for all they have done. Services will be held at 2:00 on Saturday, December 3, 2016, at Schaefer-Shipman Funeral Home.
