John A. Kabot, Sr. 1937 - 2016Co-Founder and Owner of Microfoam, Inc.NEW HARTFORD - John A. Kabot, Sr., 79, passed away on Thursday, October 27, 2016, at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center with his family by his side.John was born on October 18, 1937, in Utica, the son of Joseph and Helen (Arbas) Kabot. He was a 1955 graduate of Utica Free Academy and attended Utica College. John served in the
U.S. Navy from 1955 until 1962. On July 30, 1956, he married Rosemarie Gleasman in Blessed Sacrament Church, a blessed union of 60 years. John started his career with Bendix, Univac and MDS. He then co-founded and was co-owner of Microfoam, Inc., in Utica. He was a communicant of the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary.John was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. A successful businessman, he was generous to family, friends and multiple charities. Tuesday mornings with Robert Boehlert and Bob Compo, for coffee and breakfast, would be where world problems were solved. Always active, he loved hiking, fishing and boating on Lake Ontario. John enjoyed nature and was very proud of his garden.Surviving besides his beloved wife, Rosemarie, are his children, Anne (Fay) Abbass, John (Betty Ann) Kabot, Jr., all of New Hartford, and David (Roisin) Kabot, Orlando, FL; grandchildren, Steven, Ryan, Allison, Michelle, Randy, Kari, Tyler, David, Jr., Danielle and Patrick; great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Alexander, Clara, Lucas, Madeline and David, III; brothers, Edwin (Theresa) Kabot, Yorkville, and Gregory (Josephine) Kabot, Utica; and sister-in-law, Lorraine Kabot, Clinton. John was predeceased by his brother, Joseph Kabot, Jr. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, from 3-7 p.m., at McGrath, Myslinski, Karboski & Nunn Funeral Directors, 470 French Rd., Utica. Funeral services will be Wednesday, at 9:15 a.m., from the funeral home, and 10 a.m., from the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will be in St. Stanislaus Bishop & Martyr Cemetery, Whitesboro.
