JOHN ARCHIBALD MANGAN JR. John (Jack) Archibald Mangan Jr., age 91, died peacefully in his sleep on November 8, 2016, in Eureka, CA. John is survived by his wife Carolyn, his sister Janet, his son Daniel, his daughter Kathleen, his son Steven, his daughter Dana, his daughter Shaunna, his daughter Stacy, and seven grandchildren. John was a loving father who led a full life and contributed immeasurably to his family and inspired all those he touched. John was born on March 4, 1925 in San Francisco, CA to parents John Archibald and Gertrude Rose. He graduated from the University of San Francisco and enjoyed a successful career as a Plant Manager Palo Alto, CA where he worked for 28 years. John was a relentlessly active man who was deeply involved in music and a variety of other hobbies for the majority of his life. He led an extremely successful retired life, never slowing down as he pursued his many interests, among them boating and model railroading. He also enjoyed all types of music, particularly his beloved Traditional Jazz. John played several instruments in a variety of Jazz bands over the last 50 years - right up until a few weeks ago. His many bandmates over the years have remained among his closest friends. His family and friends will always remember him as a loving and supportive man and a great friend. And we will also miss his great sense of humor A Funeral Mass is scheduled for November 19 at 1:00pm at Saint Joseph Catholic Church at Henderson and C Streets in Eureka, CA. A reception will follow immediately at the Wharfinger Building located at the Eureka Public Marina - #1 Marina Way in Eureka.
