John K. Aymold, Sr.New OxfordJohn K. Aymold, Sr., 86, formerly of Finksburg, MD, died on Friday, September 1, 2017 at Cross Keys Village, The Brethren Home Community. John was born on November 25, 1930 in Baltimore, the son of the late William L. Aymold, Sr. and Sarah Ann Kennedy Aymold. He was the beloved husband of 65 years to Nancy Jane (Bolander) Aymold, whom he married on August 2, 1952.John covered VA, PA and the Washington, DC areas as a Government Property Administrator for the Department of Defense for 27 years until his retirement. John was a 1949 graduate of Southern High School in Baltimore. He served in the Army from 1953 until 1954 as a member of the 172nd Chemical Smoke Company in England. When he lived in MD, he previously worked as a bus driver for Woodlawn Motor Coach, a salesman for Miller Chevrolet in Elkridge, a sales representative for Allen and Sons, was in Quality Control for Standard Oil (Esso), and after his retirement, living in PA, he was a bus driver for Reliance Motor Coach and served as President of the York New Salem Borough Council. Surviving in addition to his wife are children and spouses, John K. Aymold, Jr. and wife, Barbara of Eldersburg, MD, Jane L. Starkey and husband, Rick of New Freedom, and Jill A. Knouse and husband, Tim of Hanover; grandchildren and spouses, Kelly Forney (Tom), Tim Aymold (Melissa), Melanie Starkey (Josh Korr), Leighann Starkey (Josh Whitehurst), Bryan Knouse (Shelley Bell) and Brady Knouse; great-grandchildren, Allison Putnam, Nathan Forney, Tyler and Ryan Aymold. He was predeceased by his brother, William L. Aymold, Jr.The family will receive friends at the Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Rd., Westminster on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 11 a.m. Interment to follow in Kriders Cemetery.
