John "Jack" B. Coleman 1927 - 2016John "Jack" B. Coleman, 89, of Springfield, died at 2:40 p.m. on Friday, November 25, 2016 at St. John's Hospice.Jack was born on June 21, 1927, the son of Bernard and Elizabeth McCue Coleman. He married Margaret "Peg" Senger on September 16, 1950. She preceded him in death on August 5, 2014. Jack graduated from Cathedral High School. He proudly served our country in the
U.S. Navy during
WWII. He worked as a plumber for Carl Davis Plumbing for over 30 years. He later owned and operated Jack Coleman Plumbing for more than 30 years. He was also part owner of The Party Palace and operated Coleman Concessions for over 50 years. Jack was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Parish and the St. Agnes Men's Club. He was a volunteer at Sacred Heart-Griffin and was a co-chairman of the carry out line for the annual Sacred Heart-Griffin Mostaccioli Dinner. He and his wife, Peg, hold the distinction of being the only married couple to be inducted into the SHG Hall of Fame. Jack also served Mass for St. Agnes and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He attended the Land of Lincoln Honor Flight in 2012. In his spare time, Jack enjoyed volunteering, spending time with his family, going to his grandchildren's sporting events, and the concession business. He loved dogs and spending time on his porch swing. Jack was an avid Chicago Cubs, Green Bay Packers, Notre Dame, and SHG fan. He was proud to live to see the Chicago Cubs win the 2016 World Series. Jack was also preceded in death by his parents; daughter-in-law, Helen Coleman; and sisters, Bernadine Coleman and Agnes Hashman.He is survived by his son, Bernard "Bernie" (Ruth) Coleman of Springfield; daughters, Kathy (Mike) Harth and Michelle (Scott) Eades, both of Springfield; grandchildren, Erin (Paco) Sanchez, John (Rachel) Coleman, Michael Harth (fiancée, Tina Buck), Erik (Torrie) Karhliker, Andrea Harth, Chrissy Harth, Emily Eades, and Addison Eades; six great-grandchildren, Esteban "E.J.," Molly, and Will Sanchez, Laykin and Lola Karhliker and Haddie Coleman; sister, Elizabeth "Bub" Taylor; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Monday, November 28, 2016 at St. Agnes Catholic Parish, 245 N. Amos Ave, Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service.Funeral Mass: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at St. Agnes Catholic Parish with Rev. Robert J. Jallas officiating.
