John Burruss WattsKnoxville, TNJohn Burruss Watts, age 79, of Knoxville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 6, 2017. He was born on November 13, 1937 in Evansville, Indiana. The Watts family moved to Knoxville when he was three years old. John is preceded in death by his parents, Burruss and Mabel Sparks Watts; sister, Camille Watts Johnson and spoiled companion, his dog, Loosey. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mitsy Crownover; daughters, Camille Watts Brooke (David), Marie Watts Cobble (Court); grandsons, Owen Watts Brooke, Lewis Campbell Brooke, Hayes Courtland Cobble, James Edward Cobble (Jed); sister, Charlotte Keister (Earl); brothers-in-law, Jim Crownover(Dorothy) and Bill Crownover(Barbara); sister-in-law, Margaret Crownover and many special nieces and nephews. John was in the graduating class of 1955 from Central High School, played basketball at Hiwassee College and graduated from ETSU with a degree in Business, Economics and English. His Indiana roots are why he said he was a good basketball player. John was a District Sales Manager in the Industrial Division of Rayovac for 32 years and enjoyed many years on the road with his sales buddies, but always loved returning home to his family. He came to know the Lord at an early age at First Baptist Church Knoxville, and was an active member of West Hills Baptist Church for 44 years. John loved telling stories, playing golf, watching UT sports, working in the yard, going to lunch with the ROMEO's, spending time in the mountains, doing whatever his girls asked him to do, watching his grandsons play and sitting on his porch. A Celebration of Life will be held at West Hills Baptist Church on Sunday, June 11, 2017 at 12:30p.m. The family will welcome friends following the service from 1:30p.m. to 3:30p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in John's memory to West Hills Baptist Church Capital Campaign, 409 North Winston Road, Knoxville, TN 37909.
