Springhill, LA - Funeral services for Mr. John C. Allen, Jr., age 96, will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, February 21, 2017, at the Springhill United Methodist Church, Springhill, LA, with Rev. Bill McLain officiating. Interment will follow in Welcome Cemetery, Taylor, AR under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill, LA.Visitation will be held Monday, February 20, 2017, 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Bailey Funeral Home.Mr. Allen was born on July 9, 1920 to John Currie Allen, Sr. and Lois Foreman Allen in DeQueen, AR and passed away on Friday, February 17, 2017 in Springhill, LA. He was a member of Springhill United Methodist Church and served in the U. S. Army during WWII. He attended Henderson State College and graduated from LSU Baton Rouge in 1947. He retired from International Paper Company as an accountant after 33 years of service and was a member of American Legion Post #166. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Mazelle Payne Allen of Springhill; sister, Patricia "Tip" Akins of Houston, TX; brothers-in-law, Ricky D. Payne and wife, Stacy of Springhill; Dr. Otis Edd Payne and wife, Martha of Houston, TX; two nephews, Donald Allen, Jr. and wife, Jane of Henderson, TX, Shepard Akins and wife, Susan of Fayetteville, AR; three nieces, Donna Cox and husband, Curtis of DeQueen, AR and Tia Akins Gurvitz of Lexington, KY; Jeri Sue Carlton of Houston, TX; numerous other great-nieces, great-nephews, and many dear friends.Mr. Allen was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Donald Allen, Sr.Pallbearers will be Brian Payne, Kevin Payne, Todd Dennis, Richard Johnson, Benny Wreyford, Mike Washington and Tim Coffey.
