John C. Mann, 87, Independence, MO passed away November 20, 2016. Visitation 10-11 a.m. followed by funeral service at 11 a.m. Friday, November 25, at Lake Lotawana United Methodist Church, 28901 NE Colbern Rd., Lake Lotawana, MO 64086. Burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Lake Lotawana United Methodist Church. John was born on a farm January 27, 1929 in Santa Rosa, MO, son of John N. and Opal (Sweiger) Mann. He was a graduate of Central High School in Kansas City, MO. John married Wanda Sue Horton, 67 years of marriage and never had an argument. He was a member of Lake Lotawana United Methodist Church for 63 years, volunteering in numerous ways and serving on a number of church committees. John loved to travel and was able to visit 49 of the 50 states on vacations. Johnny's career was primarily as a very successful service department dispatcher and shop foreman for automobile dealerships in the Kansas City area. Later in his career, he had a very successful metal polishing business. He polished many of the items in the restoration of the Vaile Mansion in Independence, MO. He took great pride in delivering excellent customer service. He is survived by his wife and life-long companion, Wanda Sue Horton Mann, who resides at The Groves Retirement Community in Independence, MO. He is also survived by son and daughter- in-law Rick and Debra Mann of Overland Park, KS; daughter and son-in-law Susan and Rob Wyatt of Colorado Springs, CO; daughter Elaine Mann of Tampa, FL; seven grandchildren Ryan, Eric, Nathan, Jennifer, Rebecca, Amy and Jonathan; thirteen great-grandchildren; and a large extended family and countless friends, all close to his heart.
