This obituary is administered by:
Craig, John JCage 80 died peacefully at home from congestive heart failure on the morning of Tuesday, 12/6/16. Funeral services are being handled by Carey Hand Colonial Funeral Home. A memorial service and celebration of his life will be held at 11AM on Tuesday, 12/13/16 at Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church, 1655 Peel Ave., Orlando, FL 32806. The graveside service will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery following a brief reception after the memorial service. JC, as he was known by many, was born on 6/18/36 in Anniston Alabama was first and foremost a man of God and a fiercely dedicated family man. After graduating high school he joined the US Navy in March 1956 and served abroad on the USS Tidewater stationed out of Norfolk, VA until May 1959. While still commissioned in the US Navy, he returned home to Alabama and married his beloved wife, Barbara Pope Craig on 5/24/58 in Oxford Alabama and was happily married for nearly 59 years. Not long after completing his service in the US Navy, he and Barbara moved to Orlando Florida where they started their family. Although he and Barbara considered Orlando their family home, they also moved over to Merritt Island, FL for a brief time and lived for about 7 years prior to moving back to Orlando in 1971 after which time JC had started his life long career at Kennedy Space Center. He retired in 1997 after 35 years as a branch manager. He also had his own HVAC business, Craig Air-conditioning and Heating which he ran out of his Orlando home for several years in the mid to late 1970's. He and Barbara had 4 children and 5 wonderful grandchildren. JC had many passions including his University of Alabama football team, The Crimson Tide, fishing, his many vacations around the US, Canada and abroad and just spending time with family and many lifelong close friends he and Barbara had made over the years who continue to this day. He also loved reading books of all kinds and played solitaire at home just about daily. He was an extremely humble man, was always fair and kindhearted and believed with his whole heart in God as a lifelong Presbyterian. He is survived by his 4 children and their spouses, Tina Craig-Ferrell and husband Kevin "Scott" Ferrell (preceded in death), Alisa Jane Corser and her husband, Donnie Corser, Gary K. Craig and his wife, Debbie K. Craig, and John G. Craig. He is also survived by his 5 grandchildren who were the joy and light of his life, Alisa A. Corser, Craig R. Corser, Jonathon S. Craig, Joshua K. Craig and Tanner J. Craig. JC will live on in all of our hearts and will be a testament to us all in how to live our lives with God's grace and continued love for all.
