John D. Weaver Sr. John D. Weaver Sr., a retired Electro-mechanical X-ray Engineer passed away on Feb. 11, 2016 at the age of 83. He was born on June 3, 1932 in Stamford, CT. He was the youngest of William and Helen Weaver's five children. He graduated from Stamford High School in 1950 and from Bridgeport Engineering Institute ( Fairfield University) in 1960 with an Engineering degree. He was employed by Machlett Laboratories, Springdale, CT from 1950 -1989. From 1952- 1954 , he was in the United States Army and served during the Korean War Era in Germany. After service he returned to Machlett's and became an X-ray Design Engineer. He holds patents on x-ray tubes and was a member of the Mechanical Engineering Society/Plastic Engineering Society. In 1989 he became the manufacturing engineering/documentation and drafting department manager for Gendex in Arlington Heights, IL until his retirement in 2002. He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church of Stamford, CT and later Church of the Cross, Bluffton, SC. He was a boy scout, president of the Machletts' Federal Credit Union, and Machlett's ten year club. He is survived by his wife of 59 years- Barbara Moody Weaver( BJ) and children: Cynthia W. Nunes of Woodbridge, CT; John D. Weaver III of Groton, CT; Christopher D. Weaver and Sulan Kim of Elgin, IL and Andrew S. Weaver and Kimberly Murphy of Plantsville, CT. He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Lauren Weaver of Groton, CT; Jacqueline and Christopher Nunes of Woodbridge, CT; Amber and Christopher Weaver or Elgin, IL and Abigail and Charlene Weaver of Plantsville, CT. He leaves behind his beloved sister Doris A. Grauel of Monroe, CT., many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by his son John D. Weaver, Jr and brothers William, Robert and Russell Weaver. A funeral service will be held at the Church of the Cross, 110 Calhoun Street, Bluffton, SC at 2pm on February 16, 2016. Interment will be private. There will be no calling hours. The family request memorial donations can be made to the Church of the Cross, P.O. Box 278, Bluffton, S.C. 29910. Sauls Funeral Home of Bluffton, SC is assisting the family with their arrangements.
