John David Moore, born 9/30/53, passed away on Sunday, 9/6/20 at Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital in Geneva, Illinois, at the age of 66, after a two and a half year battle with terminal cancer. He is survived by his spouse Terry L. Moore, whom he married in May 1982 at Grace Lutheran Church, River Forest, IL; his children John C. Moore (Caitlin Scheib) and Ruth A. Rearick (Kyle); his brothers Tim Moore and Jeff Moore; as well as nieces, nephews and cousins. His earliest influences came from growing up on the family farm in Jersey County and in Marine, IL. He was a member of 4-H throughout his childhood. He was raised in the the Baptist Church and the First Christian Church of Marine. His parents John A. Moore and Mildred Spriggs Moore were both educators, which inspired David to attend and graduate Culver Stockton College in Canton, MO, where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Art Education. His work in life varied from being a cook, to a camp counselor, to a land surveyor, to a teacher, assistant manager in furniture sales, a realtor, account sales, computer sales, and account executive sales. David's interests in life were vast. From singing in the college choir, to playing the drums, to acting on the stage, his love of music and poetry brought joy and life to his friends and family. His leatherworking and woodworking skills were valued by his peers and family over the years. He also enjoyed Reading, Writing, The Arts, Exploring Nature, Camping, Star Gazing, Fishing, Swimming, Geology, Traveling, Thrifting, Antiquing, Cooking, and Gardening. He held a bigger-than-life presence during his time, and could bring humor and grounding truth into every conversation. His interest in science also led him to being an innovator. His love of his family and friends and The Lord Jesus Christ lived within his heart and soul. Passing down stories were some of his favorite activities to share with his family. He prayed for his loved ones daily and dreamt of a better world.
The signs are everywhere that you are still around us. We hear you, we see you, we feel you. Loving husband, Loving Dad, and our dear friend, you will live on in our hearts with so many wonderful memories forever. Until we see you again and are reunited in eternal life, peace be with you. "All that is gold does not glitter, not all those who wander are lost. The old that is strong does not wither, deep roots are not reached by the frost. From the ashes a fire shall be woken, a light from the shadows shall spring. Renewed shall be blade that was broken, the crownless again shall be King."--J.R.R. Tolkien
