DAVIDSON, John: John (Jock) quietly passed away on February 18,2017. He is survived by his children: James, Anne, Charles and Mary; grandchildren: Kate and Kit; sister-in-law Kitty Drought and her family. John was born on October 18, 1919 to James and Martha Davidson in Brechin, Scotland. He attended school and university there until the outbreak of the Second World War. He saw active service in France, the Western Desert, the Arakan and behind Japanese lines with the Wingate Chindits. After the war ended, John emigrated to Canada, working in Toronto, Vancouver and Quesnel, where he met his wife-to-be, Doris Dain. They settled in the Okanagan where John taught school in Rutland and Kelowna. He left teaching in I97l to farm on the Westside with his in-laws, Major and Mrs. Dain. John and Doris raised Connemara ponies while operating a small cherry orchard. They both enjoyed life and their travels to various horse functions, making many good friends across Canada and the United States. The family is very grateful for the medical care John received during hospital stays. Special thanks to all who offered up cheer and comfort. It was John's wish that there would be no memorial service. If so desired a donation to the veterans on Remembrance Day would be appreciated. "Bless them all."
