John Denny "Jack" RagsdaleJohn Denny "Jack" Ragsdale, 80, of Lafayette, passed away on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at 4:51 a.m. at his residence. Jack was born on January 26, 1934 in Indianapolis to the late Donald Ellsworth and Margaret (Tennant) Ragsdale. Jack married Cleo B. Anderson on April 13, 1996 in Lafayette, and she survives. He worked as a Barber at Jack's Barber Shop in Indianapolis. Jack served in the
Army as a Paratrooper during the Korean and Vietnam Conflict before being discharged in 1967. He was responsible for bringing the Vietnam Wall to Lafayette. Jack was a member of the
VFW #1154, and enjoyed wood working.Surviving along with his wife are four children, John D. Jr. (wife: Wanda) Ragsdale of Fredricksburg, VA, Richard Donald Ragsdale of Tampa, FL, Joseph Anthony Ragsdale of Tampa, FL, Julia Addvinsky of Missouri, and three stepchildren, Sandra (husband: Noah) Roark of Brookston, Bill (wife: Jennie) Anderson of Lafayette, and Mike (wife: Joann) Anderson of West Lafayette. Also surviving is his ex-wife, Jacquelyn Faye Whitlock Jones, one sister, Dorothy Miller of Greenwood, 17 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, 3 stepgrandchildren, and 3 stepgreat-grandchildren.He is preceded in death by 4 siblings and one stepson, Ed Anderson. Services will be held on Monday, November 24, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. with visitation one hour prior at Simplicity Funeral Care with Pastor Clayton Kendall officiating.
