Born on 8/8/1955 in Newark, NJ, John was the 4th of 5 siblings. He spent his childhood in NJ at play, whether it was Yankee baseball, comic books, or TV, John was passionate and committed to his heroes. After the tragic passing of his younger brother, Danny, the family moved to South Florida where he played baseball for his high school and he became involved in a local church youth group where he ultimately came to faith in Jesus Christ, a faith which would guide him the rest of his days. He graduated from Hollywood Hills High School, class of 1974. In 1976, John joined the Navy where he was injured in boot camp and subsequently medically discharged. Shortly after his return from the Navy, he met Susan, the love of his life and her son Michael. 3 Months later, December 31st, 1976, Miramar, FL, they were married and began their life long adventure. Through 43+ years of marriage, John was a devoted husband, father, and follower of Jesus Christ. Having been so deeply impacted by his time in youth group, he was dedicated to the youth whom he taught and mentored for decades in Davie, FL and then Deltona, FL. John loved watching sports and Sci-fi. He often put his passions to paper and shared them with anyone who would read through his many amateur stories, fan fiction writings, and songs. Though the last years of his life were marked by physically pain and limitations, he remained a positive, grateful, and kind man, always seeking ways to help and love others. As his mobility declined, he focused his passionate curiosity in family genealogy research discovering so many things long forgotten about the people who came before him. Loving, Kind, and Faithful, John will be dearly missed.
