The Lord of Creation called John Ellington David, Jr., 76, to join him in Eternal Bliss on Wednesday, October 25, 2017. John was born on July 3, 1941, in Alexandria, La. He was baptized Catholic at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral. John considered himself a son of "The Greatest Generation" and a true "Product of the Fifties". He had fond memories of the thousands of soldiers that flooded the forests and towns of CenLa. He remembers shopping with his mom in the PX at Camp Livingston. These memories formed a lasting impression on him concerning God, Country, Family and Friends. He was proud of his father's service in Europe from 1942 to 1945. John was educated at Sacred Heath Catholic, Menard Memorial High School, Louisiana College, and the LSU/Tulane Medical Center Complex. An unfortunate auto accident in 1961 left him permanently paralyzed and confined to a wheel chair the rest of his life. He returned to school and finished education, then working at various pathology labs in New Orleans and locally. He worked in the Alexandria Regional Health Lab as a microbiologist and finished his working career with his brother, Dr. James P. David, M.D. as Director and Vascular Ultra Sound Technologist in their co-owned Niva Vascular Ultra Sound Lab. He was the first registered Cytotechnologist and Vascular Ultra Sound Technologist in Alexandria. He retired in 1999 and has enjoyed hunting, fishing, outdoors activities and family and friends. He is preceded by his parents, John Ellington, Sr. and Elmena Porter David, his brother, Dr. James P. David, M.D.; and his grandparents, John Poussin and Ethma Ellington David and Willie and Onie Deville Porter.
