John Elmer WebbKnoxville, TNJohn Elmer Webb, age 93, walked into the arms of his Heavenly Father on Monday, February 20, 2017. He was born on April 18, 1923 in Richardson's Cove, Sevier County Tennessee to Otha Wallace Webb and Barbara King Webb. He was a longtime member of Hillcrest United Methodist Church. John was a World War II veteran. He served 305 days of combat as a Sergeant in the 455th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Automatic Weapons Battalion, Battery C, Gun Section 2 in the European Theatre under General George C. Patton. He was employed more than 30 years as an electrician in the Maintenance Department of the Knoxville City Schools. He was a 65 year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 760.He was predeceased by his parents; brother, Willie; sister, Virgie; and half-sister, Geraldine. He leaves behind with lots of memories, his wife of 70 years, Margaret (Betty) Hofferbert Webb; son, Robert (Bob) Webb; daughter-in-law, Margaret Jordan Webb; precious granddaughter, Sarah Margaret Webb; and sister-in-law, Bertha Webb Ownsby.In lieu of flowers, the family would greatly appreciate memorials in John's name be sent to Hillcrest United Methodist Church, 1615 Price Avenue, Knoxville, Tennessee 37920. Family will receive friends on Thursday, February 23, 2017, from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM, in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Highway, with the funeral service to follow at 1:00 PM. Following the service, family and friends will go in procession to East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery for the interment at 2:00 PM.
