Deacon John F. WhitePoughkeepsie - Deacon Johnnie Frank White, 75, passed away in Poughkeepsie, NY on Friday, August 4, 2017, after a lengthy battle with various health complications. Deacon White was born on May 18, 1942 in Calhoun County, Arlington, Georgia to the late Pallie White and Lillie Bell Jackson. He was a member of the Ebenezer Missionary Baptist church in Georgia. In 1962, he graduated from the H.T. Singleton High school in Albany, Georgia and later moved to Poughkeepsie, New York. Johnnie was a hard worker. He was never afraid of getting his hands dirty to make an honest living to provide for his family. In 1971, God gave Johnnie the vision to start his own business; the "John White and Company" forty-six years later, it's still a success. Deacon White was a no nonsense type of person. He was God fearing, self-willed, determined, and ambitious. He was very kind hearted and help others in need. He was a cheerful giver and never looked down on anyone because he felt that the Lord had blessed him to be a blessing unto others. Deacon White was known for his "hat wearing style." He was sharp on Sundays and always rode in style. While making Poughkeepsie home, he still enjoyed traveling back down south to visit family. Johnnie enjoyed gardening and fishing. He was the best fish fryer in town. He enjoyed listening to quartet music and the company of his grandchildren.Deacon White was a pioneer, trail blazer, and a pillar of Beth-El Church of God in Christ, Poughkeepsie. He served under the leadership of the Bishop James E. Hunt whom he loved dearly. Bishop Hunt understood Johnnie and called him his son. Deacon White was the Chairman of the Deacon and Trustee Ministry at Beth-El. He took pride in all he did to serve the church, he loved Beth-El.Johnnie is survived by his six children; Jeffrey White of Paulette, North Carolina. Marie White, John (John-John) White Jr., Brian White all of Poughkeepsie, New York; Isaac White of West Point, New York; and Leah White of Richmond, Virginia. Seven Siblings; Faye Alexander of Poughkeepsie, New York; Doris Milledge, Ruth Wade, Gladys Southern all of Ellenwood, Georgia. Jimmy White and Roy White of Atlanta, Georgia; Jae White of Conley, Georgia. His nine grandchildren; Najah Watkins, Justin and Paris White, Shayonna McZeal, Mariah, Jayden, and Kiyan White, Jasmine and Jeffery Jr. and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and extended family.He was pre-deceased by his son Brian "Blue", his brother Billy and I.D White, his (brother in laws) Rugus Milledge and Clifford Southern.Special thanks to James Cutchin who started working with John at the age of seven-teen. Forty- six years of loyal and dedicated support.
