John Franey Foy, 90, died on December 13, 2016 at Lakeview Terrace of Boulder City, Nevada. He was born on March 12, 1926 in Silver City, New Mexico to Thomas and Mary Veronica Foy. Franey grew up on the Foy Ranch between Santa Clara (Central) and Bayard, New Mexico. He attended St. Mary's Academy, Silver City, NM, St. Joseph's College and Military Academy, Hays, KS and St. Louis University, St. Louis, MO. He joined the United States
Army and served in WW II. He worked at the Grant County State Bank (Bank of America), sold life insurance, developed several subdivisions in Bayard as managing partner of the Foy Partnership, was a proprietor of the Foy Lumber Company and a cowboy on the Foy Ranch. His interests included book, stamp and coin collecting. He was a member of the American Legion, Bayard Lion's Club, Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, and was a friend of Bill Wilson for over 50 years. Franey retired to Boulder City, Nevada in 1980 and was an active member of Vernon Howard's New Life Church and Literary Foundation. A lifelong seeker, Franey never lost interest in learning, had a great sense of humor, enjoyed life one day at a time, maintained strong convictions and loved his family. John Franey Foy is preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Mary Veronica Foy; his great uncle John Franey (Freany); his brother Thomas Paul (Joan Carney) Foy; his sisters Rosemary Foy (Joseph) Stewart and Winifred Ann Foy (Gus Peter III) Momsen; his spouses Rosemary Tolin Foy and Maria Navarro Foy Price; his sons John Franey Foy Jr. and Patrick Tolin Foy; his daughter Rosemary Catherine Foy (Frank) Mendoza; and his compadre Alfredo Corral.
