John Griffin GardNaples, FLJohn Griffin Gard, Ph.D., beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2017. John was born on September 28, 1934, to John Dolph and Nancy Griffin Gard, who preceded him in death, in Greensburg, PA. He graduated from Irwin High School, Kenyon College, and received his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda (Johnson) Gard, daughters June Drotleff (Fred) and Julia Bertermann (Todd), son John S. Gard, stepdaughter Kelly Lee (Terry), and grandchildren James and Dan Drotleff, Brendan and Bridget Bertermann, and Hannah, Parker, and Camden Lee.John was a clinical psychologist who delighted in uncovering his patients' issues and helping them to build self-sustainability. He served as the Clinical Director for the Columbiana County Mental Health Center in Lisbon, Ohio. He hosted a call-in radio show on WOHI is East Liverpool, Ohio, and was an adjunct professor at Kent State and Geneva College.John was a man full of puns and limericks. He had an amazing memory and liked to say he was a bottomless pit of useless information. John was a fierce foe in Trivial Pursuit and a great ally in crossword puzzles. He was an avid Steelers fan and model ship builder. His life's journey took him from Irwin to Beaver Falls, PA, to Lisbon, OH, and finally to Naples, FL.
