John H. Reed Sr.ALBUQUERQUE, NM: John H. Reed Sr., formerly of Zanesville, OH passed away Friday, February 13, 2015 at Woodmark at Uptown Assisted Living Facility, Albuquerque, NM.He was born on September 2, 1920 in Renrock, Noble County, OH and attended the Morgan county schools and Ohio State University prior to serving in the military. A veteran of World War II John served in the Air Force. He Retired in 1981 from the Zanesville Postal Office after serving as a letter carrier for 37 years. John was a member of the Trinity United Presbyterian Church in Zanesville, OH and the National Association of Letter Carriers.His wife of 65 years, Esther Mullen Reed, of Meigs County, OH; and a son, John H. (JR) Reed, Jr. of Orient, OH, preceded him in death.He is survived by his daughter, Phyllis and husband, Robert Moore of Albuquerque, NM; one grandson, Matthew J. Reed and wife, Robin of Grove City, OH and their three children, Jack, Simon, and Annie; a brother, Robert and his wife, Beverly Reed, of Zanesville, OH; and several nieces and nephews in Ohio, a nephew in North Carolina and a niece in Florida.John is preceded in death by his parents, J. Lynn and Roxie Caldwell Reed; and sisters, Dortha Gerlach and Esther Secrest.A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 30, 2015 at 11:00am at Trinity United Presbyterian Church in Zanesville, OH and burial will be at the Memorial Park in Zanesville.In lieu of flowers donations can be made in John's honor to the Trinity United Presbyterian Church trinityup.org or 830 Military Rd., Zanesville, OH 43701.
