John H. SchmenkelJohn H. Schmenkel of Marco Island, Florida, formerly of Woodbridge, New Jersey, passed away August 7th at AVOW Hospice in Naples, Florida. He was born on February 2, 1943 in Bayonne, New Jersey.He graduated from Jersey City Academy, Monmouth University with a BA in Political Science and Villanova University with a MA in Political Science.His career was varied and interesting. Initially he worked as manager of manufacturing in pharmaceuticals and cosmetics for ER Squibb and L'Oreal both in New Jersey. His most rewarding positions were serving as Director of Manufacturing of the Aerospace Program for B.F. Goodrich and Director of Manufacturing of a heart pump for Electro Catheter both in New Jersey. In retirement, he founded Crossroads Home Inspection in New Jersey before retiring to Marco Island.His hobbies included restoring antique automobiles and boating. He was a member of the Patten Point Yacht Club, Long Branch, NJ.He was predeceased by his parents Virginia and Herman Schmenkel, his sister Carol, and his wife Aldina. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Maryann, his three daughters and sons in law Jacqui and Timothy McGovern, Christina and Charles Elliott, Andrea Schmenkel and Robert Kowal, four grandchildren Lauren McGovern Houston, Jack McGovern, Grace and Mason Elliott and his niece Heather Mc Gregor. A private memorial service was held August 26th at United Church of Marco Island and burial in the Memorial Garden.
