WALLINGFORD - John Joseph Orlando, 88, of Wallingford, passed away peacefully Monday, Oct. 10, 2016, at the Regency House.He was a lifelong resident of Wallingford, born on May 29, 1928, a son of the late Joseph and Marian (Rizzo) Orlando, a graduate of Lyman Hall High School, and a veteran. He worked as a Wallingford policeman for 28 years, loved the New York Giants and his "UConn girls" (basketball), his above ground pool, boating on "daddy's girls", and being outside in his yard gardening, watering and cutting his grass. He is best known for his outdoor holiday decorations (for every occasion), his "corny" jokes, and his unusual hats.He is survived by his three daughters and sons-in law, Susan and Mike Liu (Florida), Laurie and Bruce Silva (California), and Amy and Scott Hume (North Carolina); his two grandsons, Dustin Silva (Oregon) and Nick Liu (New York); his sister, Rose Farkas; and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by siblings, Frances Vaccino (West Haven), Madeline Esposito (Hamden), Peter Orlando (Massachusetts), and Salvatore Orlando (Wallinford).Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial on Friday, Nov. 11, at 11 a.m. in Most Holy Trinity Church, 84 N.
