John "Jack" Horner died peacefully at Universal Healthcare on October 20, 2016, in Raleigh, N.C. Jack was 86. Jack was born on September 12, 1930, in Erie, Pa., to his parents, Charles Horner and Mildred Spagl Horner. Jack graduated from Strong Vincent High School in 1948 and later thrived in a career dedicated to educational sales and marketing. Jack married Sally McMichael Osiecki in 1976 and continued giving freely of his time to the people and communities he lived in. Jack served as President of the Erie Presque Isle Rotary Club, was named a Court Appointed Special Advocate for children at risk and volunteered for both Meals on Wheels and Habitat for Humanity. Jack and Sally have always been people of faith and active and dedicated members of the United Methodist Church. Jack's love of people and sense of humor were well known to all. Jack is survived by his wife, Sally Horner of Raleigh N.C.; their children, Jeff and Diane Horner of Findley Lake, N.Y., Mike and Joy Horner of Tampa, Fla., Tim Osiecki of Washington, D.C., Lisa Osiecki of Raleigh N.C. and Scott and Lisa Osiecki of Skaneateles, N.Y.; his ten grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Scott Horner. A memorial will take place on November 6th at 2 p.m. at the North Raleigh United Methodist Church.
