John Joseph Kopec was born November 3, 1941, and passed away at age 82 on October 10th, 2024 from what we believe was heart failure. After just having a major stroke and medical complications with his diabetes and his lungs, he fought hard. About 3 years ago we thought we had lost him due to a fall but he persevered like he always had. He was born in Baltimore and always loved to tell me stories about working on the families' bean farm, shucking oysters, and wanting all the soft shell crab he could get. He was very proud to have served his country in the Air Force and to be a husband and father to his ex-wife Cathy and his three children Debi, Lisa, and David. He was also brother to his sister Diane and brother Mike, and uncle to Sarah and Laura. Most importantly to me, he was an amazing grandfather. He was grandfather to Kelsey, Delaney, Taylor, Alyssa, Aiden, Avery, and Amanda. He has a few great grandchildren as well. He was always bestowing his wisdom and keeping our family stories alive with every visit we had and trip we took. He made me very proud to be a polish woman and always made sure I knew where I came from. For anyone that knew John, knew he was stubborn as a bull but was always honest and said the hard things that most people wouldn't have the courage to say. I loved my grandpa very much, and the world will be a lot less bright without him in it. No one will know me like he did, we got along so well because we had a common love and understanding of one another. But I hope he is at peace now and not in anymore pain, visiting with his parents and catching up over old times. I am going to miss him very much, but I will still get lunch on our Tuesdays and talk to him about golf or the bengals, or whatever crazy things are on the news. Until we meet again, with love forever, your granddaughter Delaney.
