John Julius HerrinPigeon Forge, TNJohn Julius Herrin, age 64, of Pigeon Forge, Tennessee passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville. He was born on November 29, 1952 in Edenton, North Carolina to the late Paul Carney Herrin and Blanche Margaret Bass Herrin. Many who knew him during his childhood called him Jule. John married Debbie Jean White on October 8, 1971 at Trace Creek Baptist Church in New Johnsonville, Tennessee. They later had two children, a son, John Emery Herrin and a daughter Heather Lee Herrin.John graduated in 1970 from Waverly Central High School, in Waverly, Tennessee and from UT Martin in 1975 with a BS Degree in Electrical Engineering. Soon after graduating from UT Martin, Bell South Telephone Company employed him where he worked for 27 years until he retired. Dollywood Special Events then employed him in 2002 where he worked until his death. John appreciated life in general and was a simple man. He adored his grandchildren and enjoyed participating in their life events. He especially liked watching them play in their sport games. Although tone deaf, John enjoyed using his engineering skills as a sound tech for church, work and personal enjoyment. You might have seen John puttering around town in his overalls, fishing in a creek, helping a neighbor or taking apart his Volkswagen truck just to put it back together again. He and his wife Debbie always enjoyed their time together, whether it was working as a team at Dollywood, going to church or taking a cruise. John was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Jack and Elizabeth (
Smith) Bass of Edenton, North Carolina, his paternal grandparents Julius and Tora (Wainwright) Herrin of Brunswick, Georgia and his parents Paul and Blanche (Bass) Herrin of New Johnsonville, Tennessee. Also by his in-laws, Charles and Sarah (Warren) White of Knoxville, Tennessee. He is survived by his wife, Debbie (White) Herrin of Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, his son and grandchildren John and Amy (Graham) Herrin, Charles Thomas Herrin, Camryn Jean Herrin and John Emery Herrin, Jr. all of Powell, Tennessee, and his daughter and granddaughter, Heather (Herrin) Treece, Chris Treece and Pyper Lee Treece of Knoxville, Tennessee. A brother, Walter and Gloria (Daniel) Herrin of New Johnsonville, Tennessee. Several nieces and nephews, Daniel and Amy (Cook) Herrin, William and Emily Herrin, Shaun and Paula (Herrin) Stephens, James Bowden, Megan Bowden, Xander Stephens, and Luke Stephens. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Black Oak Heights Baptist Church, 405 Black Oak Drive, Knoxville, Tennessee 37912 with visitation at 1:00 pm and the Memorial Service at 3:00 pm.
