John D. Kuhlmann1947 - 2016John D. Kuhlmann, 69, of the Village of Bloomfield, Wis., (Powers Lake) died Saturday morning Sept. 3, 2016, at his home surrounded by his family.John David Kuhlmann was born on June 16, 1947, in Chicago, Ill., the son of the late Bernard and Mary Jane Neiman Kuhlmann. On Nov. 7, 1964, in New Buffalo, Mich., John was united in marriage to Colette Hobbie. They lived in Chicago, Ill., until moving to Powers Lake in 1976. John served the City of Chicago as a Police Officer from 1967 until 1975. He then served the people of Bloomfield Township as their Police Chief from 1975 until 1981. John then moved on to his passion of bowling. He ran the Kuhlmann's Lanes in Twin Lakes from 1984 until moving to Antioch Lanes from 1991 until 1996. John was an avid bowler and bowled nine 300 games and two 800 series. John then worked for 13 years as manager of the tool rental at Home Depot in Lake Geneva. John was instrumental in acquiring fire numbers for the Town of Bloomfield. He also was instrumental in getting blue lights on squad cars in Wisconsin through the Attorney General's office. He was an avid Bears and Cubs fan.John is survived by his wife of 51 years, Colette; one son, John (Michelle Lambert) Kuhlman of Lake Geneva, Wis.; one daughter, Jill (Terry Hammen) Laing of Kaukauna, Wis.; three granddaughter, Madison, Michaela and Marina and one great grandson, Jackson.John was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Garry.A Memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2016.
