XENIA — John L. Wolff MD, age 89 formerly of Xenia and long-time resident of Ft. Myers, FL, passed away on Sunday, December 27, 2015. John was born on May 15, 1926 in Greensburgh, Pennsylvania to the late LeRoy S and Joy (Bairstow) Wolff. He attended Wilkinsburg (PA) High School, Lafayette College (BA), Yale University School of Medicine (MD), and Ohio State University School of Medicine (M.M.S.) Surgery residency, Ohio State University Hospitals, 1952-1957. Private practice of Surgery, Xenia, OH 1957-1995. Certified American Board of Surgery; Fellow American College of Surgeons. John was preceded in death by his first wife Gloria (Laurie) Wolff and survived by his children, Elizabeth (Rev. Andrew) Village, Janet (Ron) Trader, Nancy (Mark) Miller, John Wolff, Susie (Eric) Nickels, James (Christina Jones) Wolff, 10 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. He is also preceded in death by wife Patsy (Short) Wolff and survived by step-daughter Jennifer Jervis and 4 step-grandchildren. John served in the United States Navy as a radar tech on the U.S.S. Lamson, was able to complete Yale Medical School on the GI Bill, longtime surgeon at Greene Memorial Hospital, mentor, friend and 30 year associate of Dr. Linda Bailey. He was a proud fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates and Penguins. He loved classical music and opera and enjoyed spending summers with his family at his cabin in Napanee, Ontario, Canada.
