John (Jack) L. Avery of Alva, Florida, passed away on May 23, 2024, at the age of 92. He was born on February 21, 1932 in Montgomery, AL, to Hartley D. and Dixie L. Avery. He was preceded in death by his parents, former wife & mother of his children Cynthia, and Son, John Jr.
John is survived by his beloved wife Kim Avery, and his children: widow of his son John, Marie Avery Withers (Danny), Cheryl Trinder, Melinda Lang (Tim). grandchildren, Jarrett Avery (Alina), Jenean Vavra (Jason), great grandchildren, Kiley, Kinsey, Jackson and Cooper.
John graduated from Lee High School in Jacksonville, FL. He moved to Lee County along with his business partner Red Parham in 1959. They owned and operated General Sand & Stone & Marina 31. Outside of work, John had a passion for Nascar, Motorcycles, Boating, Model Airplanes, and had the remarkable ability to make, build, or fix anything, as he did while helping his wife Kim in her catering business in his later years. All who new him knew he loved his dogs! Many who knew and loved Jack (Honey) wanted to be him when they grew up!!
John passed away peacefully in his North Carolina home with his loving wife and aid of Amorem Hospice. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
