John Marshall FinanAge: 89 • Orleans, MAJohn Marshall Finan, 89, of Orleans, Massachusetts passed away on Monday, March 13, 2017 in Shelburne Vermont.He was born on June 14, 1927 in Richmond Memorial Hospital to John and Florence (Mullaney) Finan. He was raised in Prince Bay, Staten Island, New York and was a graduate of Tottenville High School (Class of 1944). After serving in the Navy, he graduated from Lehigh University (Class of 1951). John was married to Elenore Kossack of Irvington New Jersey on September 11, 1955. He pursued a career in electrical engineering with Leeds & Northrup where he was employed for 30 years. After retiring to Orleans, John enjoyed fishing, boating, woodworking, and indulging in all Cape Cod had to offer.John is preceded in death by his wife Elenore, his sister Lucille Hillpot; his brother James Finan, and by his granddaughter Tara Gillon. He is survived by his sons, James and his wife Susan, of Kennett Square, PA and Douglas and his wife Janine, of Richmond, VT; grandchildren Briana Greer, Christina Finan, Michelle Finan, Samantha Finan, Jennifer Finan; great grandchildren Caitlin and Colton Greer; his sister Anne Torgersen and sister-in-law Audrey Finan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 27, at 11:00 am at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 72 Church St, Shelburne, VT, to be followed at a later date by a memorial and burial at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John's name to the Orleans Historical Society, 3 River Rd.
