John M. Hansen RACINE John Martin Hansen, age 88, passed away on February 7, 2014, at Wheaton Franciscan Hospital in Racine. John was born on May 26, 1925, to Lewis and Mary (nee: Olson) Hansen. John married Betty Jacobsen on June 4, 1949, in Racine at Trinity Lutheran Church. John served in the
United States Navy during
World War II from 1942 -1946. He was a lithographer at Western Publishing Company, retiring in 1987. John was a member of Lutheran Church of the Resurrection. He enjoyed his retirement golfing, bowling and fishing at his cabin in Hayward, WI. He met his buddies daily for coffee at McDonalds. He walked daily at the Sealed Air Branch YMCA. He loved spending time with his family especially in Florida along the Gulf of Mexico and at Disney World. A favorite past time was trying his luck at the casino. John is survived by his children: Jeffory (Janice) Hansen, Todd Hansen, and Susan Kosterman; son-in-law, Richard Seeger, grandchildren: Nathan Hansen, Sarah (Tim) Pavlik, Leah (Gerald) McCauley, Jacob (Savannah) Hansen, John (Erica) Kosterman, Todd Kosterman, Troy (Heather) Kosterman, and Ashley (Benjamin) Naus; great grandchildren: Candace, Amber, Tyler, Mikailah, Jordan, John Jr., Riley, Amberlee, Adelynne, Emma, Miranda, Alane, Nicholas, and Eleanor; as well as many other relatives and friends. John was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; daughter, Karen Seeger; foster parents, Einer and Jenny Peterson; parents-in-law, Clarence and Lena Jacobsen; daughter-in-law, Chanden Hansen; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Grace (David) Krenzkie; two sisters, three brothers and their spouses. Friends and relatives may meet with the family on Tuesday, February 11, 2014, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Wilson Funeral Home, 1212 Lathrop Ave. in Racine, phone: 262-634-3361. Funeral service for John will be held at the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, 322 Ohio St., in Racine, on Wednesday, February 12, 2014, at 11:00 AM. There will be a visitation at church from 10:00 AM until the service time. Memorials may be directed to the YMCA Sealed Air Branch for the construction of an alternate handicap evacuation route in Johns memory.
