John P. LucchesiAGE: 53 •John P. Lucchesi died on January 6, 2017 surrounded by his family. He was born on December 2, 1963 in Jersey City, NJ and lived in Morristown and Rockaway, NJ. John was born with Cystic Fibrosis, an incurable illness of the pancreas and lungs. He had his first double lung transplant in 2001 at UNC Medical Center, Chapel Hill. He had his second double lung transplant in 2008 at University of Pennsylvania Medical Center, Philadelphia. In January 2014 John was diagnosed with Appendiceal Cancer, which led to his death. John accomplished almost all the goals on his bucket list. John may have been the oldest survivor of CF. John spent many years as a consultant in the field of software development and the most recent decades as a yoga master. He trained with some of the most respected Yoga teachers of this time. After more than 20 years of learning, John taught the Yoga Trainers Course at Integral Yoga, Fairlawn, NJ. He held certificates in Integral Hatha I, II and Raja Yoga, plus several certifications at the 200, 500 and 1000 hour levels from other traditions. He was owner of Dhairyan Yoga Studio in Morristown, NJ. John loved to travel. He rode a Purple Harley. John visited Italy, Japan and China. He had a special fondness for the Japanese people and oriental culture. He was recently awarded an MA Philosophy with a major in Oriental Studies. John was an avid musician. He played the guitar, composed and was a lead singer for the blues-rock band "The Air Dogs." He had many loyal friends in and out of the yoga and music worlds. All who knew him will recall his sense of humor, intelligence and love of life. Only a special few knew of the lifelong physical burden he carried. John lived his life to the fullest. He believed and lived..."it's not about the years in your life, but the life in your years." He will be missed. John precedes his parents Florence and Ronald J. Lucchesi, his brothers Ronald K. and Brian T., sisters-in-law Maria Lucchesi and Colleen Lucchesi, his niece Angela Lucchesi and nephew Ronald L. Lucchesi.
