1928 ~ 2016John Peter Ferraro was born on May 26, 1928 in Brooklyn, New York and was the seventh of eight children born to Angelo and Anna Ferraro, all of whom have preceded him to the spirit world. He passed away on December 2, 2016. John grew up in Brooklyn where his fun personality and love of jokes and food made him many friends. He took the opportunity to join the
U.S. Air Force and served in many locations around the world. While serving in Germany, he met and married Hedwig (Hedy) Fischer. Together, they had three children, Margarete, Anne and John Ferraro.John served in the Air Force for twenty-two years and retired with the rank of master sergeant. He then began a career with the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier while living with his family in Long Island, New York. He worked there until he retired in 2005.After retirement, John and Hedy followed their children who had moved to Utah and lived in Riverton. John enjoyed his time here and his neighbors who made him feel welcome.John had a life long hobby as a clock maker and enjoyed making custom grandfather and cuckoo clocks for family and friends. He also enjoyed seeing his grandchildren and made clocks for each one. John was a wonderful cook and had mastered many old family recipes for Italian cuisine, which talent he has passed on to his children. He especially enjoyed making main dishes for large family dinners.He is survived by his wife, Hedy and his daughters Anne Klemm and Margarete Koch and five grandchildren. His son, John, passed away several years ago.A viewing will be held Tuesday, December 6th from 6-8 P.M. at Broomhead Funeral Home, 12600 S. 2200 W. Riverton, Utah. A private graveside service will be held at a later date at the Utah Veterans Memorial Park.The family wishes to express their appreciation for the staff of Quality Home Health and Hospice Services for their tender care during this difficult time.
