LAGRANGE — John Alan "Jac" Price, 76, of LaGrange, IN, died Sunday, September 6, 2015, at his home. Mr. Price was born on January 6, 1939, in Sturgis, MI, to Robert J. and Ruth Irene (Hern) Price. Living his lifetime in LaGrange County, he and his son, Rex, own and operate Price's Commercial Laundry, Inc. in LaGrange. He worked for 22 years at Duo-Therm in LaGrange in bookkeeping and as the director of data processing. Jac served honorably in the United States Army and was proud of his service. He was an Eagle Scout, member of the Jaycees, and served on numerous boards including Lakeland School Board, LaGrange County Chamber of Commerce, Indiana Work One, LaGrange County Economic Development Corporation and Northeast Indiana Partnership. He was proud to be a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Parish of St. James Chapel in Howe, IN, Parkview LaGrange Hospital Board of Directors, LaGrange County Council, and serving, currently, as a LaGrange County Commissioner. In 2008, he received the Distinguished Hoosier Award from Governor Mitch Daniels. He received the Sagamore of the Wabash from Governor Mike Pence in August 2015. On December 25, 1965, at St. James Chapel in Howe, IN, he married Madonna Atwater; Mrs. Price survives in LaGrange, IN. Also surviving are a daughter and her companion, Anita Lyn Ross and Alan Malone of Waterloo, IA; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Alan Lee and Gretchen Price of Des Moines, WA, Rex Eric Price of LaGrange, IN, and Jac Douglas and Cindy Price of Miami, FL; two granddaughters, Lily and Maria; three grandsons, Erik, Alex and Max; a step-granddaughter, Anna; and a step-great-grandson, Grayson. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Phyllis (Olinger) Price, on March 30, 1964; and a sister, Jil Price. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, September 10, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mark's Episcopal Parish of St. James Chapel, on the campus of Howe Military Academy in Howe, IN. The Bishop Edward Little and Father David Yaw will officiate the service. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, September 9, 2015, from 2-8 p.m. at Frurip-May Funeral Home, 309 W. Michigan St., LaGrange, IN. There will also be a visitation from on Thursday, from 10-11 a.m. at church prior to the services. Burial will take place privately at Greenwood Cemetery in LaGrange, IN.
