Mar 10, 1987 - Oct 31, 2016

This obituary is administered by:
JOHN RAYMON HIMES Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home John Raymon Himes 29, died peacefully at home in Kennewick surrounded by his loving family on October 31, 2016. He fought a short battle against leukemia after a 10-year battle against a rare progressive neurological movement disorder. He was born on March 10, 1987 in Kenne-wick to parents David and Elaine Himes. He is the youngest of four children, a miracle baby from God. As a child and young adult, John had many interests and talents. He belonged to Indian Guides, 4-H, and Jr. Rock Club. He was interested in fractal geometry, video games, art, reading, robotics, rocks and photography. He was an expert at three-dimensional puzzles. He liked to write rap lyrics for his friends in high school. He was in the tech academy at Southridge High School and graduated in 2006. John was a sweet gentle soul. When his illness affected his abilities and restricted his freedom he seldom complained, but adjusted to circumstances. He was always grateful for anything done for him and bore great pain without complaint. He had an enduring simple faith in God and was a lifelong member of St. Joseph's Parish in Kennewick. He loved being home and having visits from his siblings and friends. John greeted everyone with his peace sign. John is survived by his parents, David and Elaine Himes, his brother Christopher Himes (Gentiana Loeffler) of Portland, sisters Jennifer Himes of Phoenix and Katrina Himes (Jason Legare) of Pasco, his aunts Peggy Woods of Sahuarita, Arizona and Mary-Jane Ricciardulli of Jackson, New Jersey, his uncles John C. Arigo of Alpha, New Jersey, Richard Arigo (Maryalice Keegan) of Pawtucket, Rhode Island and Don Himes (Erika) of Lakewood, New Jersey. He also leaves cousins and other extended family. He was preceded in death by grandparents John and Mary Arigo and Raymon and Violet Himes, and cousin Matthew Woods. We thank his friends Alex Sliger and Shawn O'Malley for the joy they brought to John. Also, we thank his caregivers Tiffany, Beth, Randy and Conrad. We thank the many doctors, dentists, nurses and other professionals who cared for John, especially Dr. Sean Matthews, Dr. Robert Gottlieb, Dr. Paulo Concado, Dr. Stanlee Lu, John Evans, ARNP, and Kris Sherill, Speech Language Pathologist. A memorial mass will be celebrated Saturday, November 5th, 11:00 a.m., at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 520 S. Garfield St, Kennewick. There will be a reception immediately following at Dillon Hall.
