John Richard "Dick" AndrewsZANESVILLE: John Richard "Dick" Andrews, 81, died at home on October 10, 2013, surrounded by his family. He was born on December 15th, 1931 in Zanesville, Ohio, to John J. and Josephine Spicer Andrews. He was the 5th of 11 children.Dick was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He graduated from St. Nicholas High School in 1949. Dick served his country in the US Army during the
Korean War, and he trained as a paratrooper in Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He was later stationed in Japan. Dick was employed with Armco Steel, and retired in 1993 after 42 years of employment. Dick enjoyed watching Ohio State football and basketball, and was a longtime fan of the Cincinnati Reds. He loved to travel, and took both his children and grandchildren on many vacations. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, and most of all, spending time with his family. He was a loved husband, father, grandfather and friend. Dick is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sally Holmes Andrews, son, Daniel Andrews, of Columbus and two daughters Karen (Craig) Stemm and Kathy (Robert) Malek both of Zanesville; grandchildren, Erin Stemm (James Fout), of Columbus, Patrick Stemm, Andrea Malek and Nicholas Malek, all of Zanesville, and great-grandson, Liam Fout; Dick is also survived by siblings Joanne (Joseph) Paul, Dorothy Andrews, Raymond (Jo Anne) Andrews, Rita (Marvin) Walker, Dave Andrews, Michael (Priscilla) Andrews; and in-laws Pat (George) Singleton, Iris Andrews, Evelyn Andrews and Dee Andrews; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister Rosemary Fisher; and brothers James Paul Andrews, Bob Andrews and Lester Andrews.Special thanks to Genesis Hospice for the care he received from Ann, Kim, Connie and especially Kim Lynum. Visitation will be held at Bryan & Snider Funeral Home at 2318 Maple Ave, Zanesville, on Sunday October 13th from 2pm-4pm and 6pm-8pm, with Wake Service at 7:30pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, October 14, 2013 at 10:30 am, at St. Thomas Catholic Church with a Dominican Father officiating. Burial will follow at Mt.
