John W. SalernoAGE: 74 • HazletJohn W. Salerno, 74, of Hazlet, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 25, 2016 at Bayshore Community Hospital in Holmdel. He was born on November 10, 1942 in Jersey City, where he grew up.On November 14, 1965, John and his wife, Ginny, were married and began their lives together. In 1984, they settled in Hazlet. Before retiring, John worked as a salesman for Consolidated Laundry Company in N. Bergen. He was also a proud U.S. Veteran, having served during the Vietnam Era.He was predeceased by his parents, Dominick and Margaret (Giannaci) Salerno, his mother-in-law, Virginia Tietjen, his brother, Anthony Salerno, and his grandson, Michael Salerno. John is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Virginia "Ginny" (Tietjen) Salerno, his loving children, John W. Salerno Jr. and his wife, Trista, of Hazlet, Mark W. Salerno and his wife, Kimberly, of Hazlet, Kerri Matullo and her husband, Vincent, of Randolph, and Lauren Lehman and her husband, Craig, of Morganville. Also surviving John are his siblings, Michael Salerno and his wife, Patricia, Joseph Salerno and his wife, Carol, Dominick Salerno and his wife, Sherry, his sister-in-law, Louise Salerno, his brother-in-law, Ken Tietjen and his wife, Janice, and his adored grandchildren, Brittany, Mark, Jessica, Madison, Vanessa, Vincent, Sarah, Angelo, C.J., and Anthony. John was also a cherished uncle and a friend to many. He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.Family and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday, November 29th from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 PM, and Wednesday morning, November 30th from 8:45 to 9:30 AM, at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 3269 State Hwy./Rt. 35 N., Hazlet. Mass of Christian Burial, Wednesday morning, November 30th at 10AM, Holy Family R.C. Church, Union Beach. Entombment, Holmdel Cemetery, Holmdel.
