John W. West, 62, a resident of Las Vegas and formerly of California passed away on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014 in Las Vegas.He was born on Aug. 5, 1951, in Los Angeles, Calif. to William West and the late Loretta DeCuir.He was currently postmaster of the Las Vegas Post Office and former postmaster of Cimarron, Watrous and Ribera. He was a collector of memorabilia of trains and baseball, he loved all sports. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncles and friend.He was preceded in death by his mother, Loretta West.He is survived by his wife, Alice West of the family home; sons, Michael Suer and wife, Elizabeth and Jeffrey Suer, all of the family home; grandchildren, Jeffrey Sommers and Nicholas Suer; father, William West of Hement, Calf.; brother, Jimmy West of Red Bluff, Calif.; sisters, Lorain West and Karra West both of California; sister-in-law, Dorothy Peoples and husband, Jack of Lindsey, Calif.; niece, Lora Peoples of California; cousin, Mona Wolfe of Hawaii; aunt, Leslie West also of Hawaii, and other relatives and many friends.A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Rogers Chapel with Pastor James Vaughan officiating.
