U.S. Veteran, John Wade, Haywood of Loveland, passed away on July 9, 2018, at the age of 95. John was born on Feb. 7, 1923, William and Ida Haywood in Marion County, MS. He graduated from high school in the Delta area.
John married Geraldine Williams on August 30, 1941. He enlisted in the Navy on December 4, 1943, and was given a medical discharge because of loss of hearing in one ear.
Robert was an ordained minister for over 60 years with the United Pentecostal Church and pastored in Shelby and Greenville, MS. He also worked in industrial maintenance for several companies in Mississippi and finally Chicago, where he retired.
John enjoyed camping and working on cars. When he retired he took up a new hobby of making balloon animals for the library and other children’s events around Illinois and was known as “The Fit It Man.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine and son, William; two brothers, George and Michael; and one sister Maude Phipps.
John is survived by his son, Kenneth Wade Haywood (Cary Haywood); and daughter, Ora Haywood; along with 15 Grandchildren that he loved dearly.
