WALKLEY, JohnPassed away peacefully on Friday, April 28, 2017 at age 85. He was born on November 27, 1931 in Cheltenham, England. He obtained his PhD. from the University of Liverpool (Physical Chemistry), followed by 3 years post-doctoral research at Berkeley, CA. He taught at Imperial College London for 6 years before accepting a post in 1966 at the then new Simon Fraser University, where he remained until his retirement. He was the co- founder of the SFU Retirees Association and of the B.C. Wine Appreciation Society. John is survived by his longtime partner, Marilyn Cheveldayoff. He is also survived by his 5 children, Karin Anne (Rob Manering), Alison Michelle (Greg Slobodin), Matthew John (Danielle Dutch), Simeon Nicholas (Amanda Torres) and Iain Bruce (Josie Gilson) and by his 5 grandchildren, Max, Kai, Kyla Slobodin, Kian Slobodin, and Aaron Slobodin. John loved his family, great friends, great food and a great Scotch. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choice.
