John William Winnen, 57, of Chula Vista, California, passed unexpectedly on October 22, 2021. John was born on June 26, 1964 in Whittier, California to beloved parents Francis Shutt and Dr. Frederick Winnen. John attended La Serna High School in Whittier graduating in 1982. John was the owner of ATC Communications. John traveled extensively from his late teens through his thirties. He traveled to Europe, Australia and throughout Asia. In 1998, John met his wife, Misako Hirota on a blind date and they were married in 2000 in Whittier, CA. They settled in Chula Vista, CA with their dogs, Sandy and Maggie. During their 21 years of marriage, John and Misako traveled yearly to the Hawaiian islands, Las Vegas or Lake Havasu. They enjoyed many adventures with lifelong friends and family. John lived his life enthusiastically and fully. He was a supremely loyal and generous friend and no one was ever a stranger for long. He touched the lives of a wide spectrum of friends and acquaintance and was always trying to bring them together for a good time. John will be greatly missed. John is survived by his wife, Misako, his father, Fred, sisters Terrie Godfrey, Sandy Reames (Darryl), Cheryl Coakley, Debi Filsinger (Mark), brother-in-law Richard Hirota (Donna),sister-in-law Akemi Uomoto (John), sister-in-law Sachi Hashima(Arthur) and many beloved nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his much loved mother, Fran.

A service will be held November 20th 12:00 noon at Queen of Heaven Mortuary and Chapel, 2161 Fullerton Rd, Rowland Heights, CA, 91748. A burial and memorial reception will follow service.
