CLIFTON, Idaho – John Woodrow Stevens, 89, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 29, 2007, at the Franklin County Transitional Care Center in Preston, Idaho. He was born on July 19, 1918, in Des Moines, Iowa to John Boyd and Geraldine Stanley Stevens. He married his sweetheart Dorothy Mildred Price on Aug. 2, 1945, in Spring Valley, New York. John was involved in many activities throughout his life. He was a member of the Masonic Masons, and served as the Park Commissioner for California where he worked with youth building radio controlled boats, planes, and cars. He served in the bishopric, and also the scouting program for many years, and was a decorated WWII veteran. He worked as a mechanical engineer and also as a watchmaker. He always enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing and watching sports, especially the Los Angeles Dodgers. He was very adept at repairing watches and clocks as well as building models and radio controlled vehicles. He was a very kind person and a friend to everyone he met. One of his favorite things to do was to cook for his grandkids which he did every chance he could. He is survived by his daughters, Joyce Sant of Clifton, and Karen (Charles) Monroe of Texas; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; his parents; and a son-in-law, John Sant. Funeral services will be held at noon on Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2007, in the Clifton 2nd Ward Chapel with Bishop Wayne Smart conducting. Friends may call from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the church in Clifton. Interment will be in the Clifton Cemetery Arrangements are under the direction of Webb Funeral Home in Preston.
