The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil, but because of those who look on and do nothing. - Albert Einstein
Johnathan Gannon, 8, son to deceased Mary Gannon, has passed away yesterday at approximately 10 am from complications of the flu. Johnathan had a very difficult life from the time he was born. Being born into poverty is always difficult, but unfortunately for Johnathan, becoming poverty-stricken is what ultimately killed him and his mother. From the time Johnathan was a little boy, he was always working hard to support his mom because her terminal illness had made her weak and feeble, but unfortunately working hard in an underprivileged society was not enough. Due to her illness, Mary was never able to maintain a job and keep a steady income. Not having access to affordable healthcare prevented Jonathon and his mother from seeking all types of preventative care. Because they did not have the means to acquire the health care they needed, it made things much more difficult in their time of illness. Unaffordable essentials, such as phone access to call a doctor, education on illnesses, and other financial priorities all become barriers to care for the poverty-stricken. On the rare occasion that they could see a doctor, the transportation and the medication prescribed to them were unaffordable. Johnathan and his mother could have benefitted had they taken advantage of programs, such as local church foundations that offer free transportation and free food delivery. There are other organizations, such as state assistance, which could have offered them free or low-cost healthcare. This information is vital to help communities that are unable to help themselves.
You can to the family or in memory of Johnathan Gannon.
