Our beloved Johnny V. Valenzuela a resident of Las Cruces, NM passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2016 at the age of 67. He was born on June 24, 1949 in Los Angeles, California to Bernarda Villanueva and Jesus Carrasco Valenzuela. He graduated with the first graduating class of Mayfield High school in 1968. He moved back to California after graduation for work and returned back to Las Cruces about 10 years later. Uncle Johnny as he was lovingly known was extremely dedicated to his family. He was an avid bingo player and loved going to the casinos. He may not have been a big winner when he gambled but he won our love each and every day! He was a huge sports fanatic and was a dedicated Chicago Bears fan since he was a cub himself. He supported and encouraged all his nephews and nieces throughout their sports season. He spent hours on end at the ballparks cheering on those he loved on the field. He taught our family what it means to be there for one another by helping to raise the young ones in the family who he gave nicknames. He was a man with such a generous heart, that would go out of his way to help those who needed it. He was loyal to his word and kept every promise he ever made and made sure his family was taken care of. Those who knew him knew he loved oldies but goodies and would listen to them all day every day. He will be sadly and sorely missed by his loving family and friends.He is proceeded in death by his lifelong friend Junior Delgado, nephew Jesse Silva, brother Joe Valenzuela, and his Mother Bernarda Villanueva Valenzuela. Services will include a Rosary to be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at 7:00pm at Getz Funeral Home. Mass will be held on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at 10:00am at St. Genevieve's Catholic Church.
